Welcome to Black Lights Performing Arts Company a ministry of JTSCCON, a 501(c)3 outreach ministry (see link for further details). Black Lights Performing Arts Company is the home of the stage play "BLACK LIGHTS SHINING IN THE DARKNESS."
Black Lights Performing Arts Company is a creative arts company addressing youth issues through the performing arts. We also recruit teen and adult actors and actresses (no experience necessary) who become apart of a team that speaks to this generation youth using their artistic gifts and talents. Our focus is to help strengthen character, build leaders and awaken peers to the height of new possibilities experienced using the performing arts. Our program avenues include:
- teen's "taken it to the streets" performances - speaking to a neighborhood
- teen group performances - traveling skits
- stage play productions
- workshops and training in the arts
DCD (Theater) Productions- is the production branch of the Company which uses the adventure of an unfamiliar creative arena, and a "true to life" youth driven performance to inspire a desire for change. Many teens have never witnessed a "true to life" performance, not to mention one that surrounds their daily issues. This new experience broadens ones perspective in life.
"Black Lights Shining in the Darkness" is a
stage play that "illuminates the spirit of youth"...(see reviews) Each scene depicts a day in the life of an urban teen and his need for a place that will help him find his identity in this dark world. A SIDE NOTE: It is our desire to allow each teen between the ages of 12 and 19 the opportunity to experience the impact of our productions for FREE. Our vision is to travel with our performance. We believe that many teens would benefit from seeing it. We are only able to expose teens and young adults to these performances with the loyal support of our sponsors. (See Sponsorship Page)
What is a "Black Light" -
A Black Light is a purple black lamp light that shines in the darkness exposing things that can't be seen by the naked eye. Then Jesus asked them, “Would anyone light a lamp and then put it under a basket or under a bed? Of course not! A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light will shine." Mark 4:21. God is searching for "Black Lights" who will shine in the darkness of this world.
Today, all youth are at risk. The statistics that surround the outcomes to dangerous choices our youth make are astounding. We believe that it is going to take the Spirit of God and the creativity of the performing arts to awaken the stony cold hearts of many of today's youth. Therefore "we're building a team" of like-minded persons, teen and adult "Black Lights" who have a passion to bring together their skills and resources to make a united impact in the communities of the Metropolitan Area.
